In addition to the above appointment times, we also offer an early start and late finish service.

The Appointment System

Our Appointment System is designed to provide flexibility and choice. With four different types of appointment on offer however, this can be confusing. Hopefully the following information will help you to decide the appointment arrangements which best suit your needs.

Pre-Booked Appointments

You are always free to book an appointment with the Doctor of your choice. There is usually a wait of a few days and as Dr Burra, Dr Merriott and Dr McWilliams only work part-time with the practice, it may take longer to see them than the full-time Doctors.

Same Day 8 Minute Slot Appointments

Most days we are able to offer patients an 8 minute slot with one of the Duty Doctors. You cannot choose the Doctor you see, but you can attend for an urgent or routine medical problem, the main stipulation being that the time available only allows the Doctor to deal with one problem.

To book an 8 minute slot it is best to contact Reception as soon after the surgery opening time (see above) as possible. The Receptionist will give you an appointment time or, if no slots are available, will advise you about the alternatives open to you depending on the urgency with which you need to see a Doctor.

Walk-In Surgeries

We hold Walk-In Surgeries as Weston Village Hall on Monday Mornings and Hixon Memorial Hall on Tuesday and Friday mornings. No appointments is necessary but if you would like the Doctor to bring your medical notes with him/her please contact Reception at least 24 hours before the Branch Surgery (on the Friday for Weston). Keep It or Cancel It

If you cannot keep your appointment with the Doctor or Nurse, please let us know in good time. This enables us to offer your appointment to someone else. Up to 80 patients fail to cancel their appointment each month. This not only wastes valuable Doctor and Nursing time, but also means everyone waits longer to be seen.
