Test Results

It normally takes 7 to 10 days for the results of blood tests, urine tests, x-ray examinations and other investigations to become available. Some tests take even longer to process (ie cervical smears) and the Practice Nurses will be able to advise you about this.

In the majority of cases the results will be within normal or expected limits and in these circumstances your Doctor may ask the Receptionist to tell you that the result is normal when you enquire. Should the Doctor need to see you the Receptionist will book an appointment in accordance with the Doctor's instructions. Usually the first available routine appointment is offered but in cases of urgency a same day or next day appointment is arranged. For a variety of reasons a test may need to be repeated or medication may be prescribed and often the Practice Nurses will speak to you about this.

To obtain your results please telephone the special results line on (01889) 880013 between 11.00am and 2.30pm (we close at 1.00pm on Thursdays) or call in at Reception between these times. Please do not telephone the results line at other times as it may not be answered.

Finally, please remember that we can only give results to the patient themselves or, if under 16, to the parent or guardian.
